Designing your sailing experience, step by step
Step 1 – Choose your destination and dates
The first step is choosing your travel dates and destination. We consider your group’s preferences, the captain’s availability, seasonal weather in your chosen region, and other factors that may be important for your trip, such as water temperature for scuba diving, local events on land, and more.
Boat availability may also influence this decision.
Step 2 – Choose your boat
This is a key step, as the boat is the main driver of the trip’s cost and has a major impact on your overall experience.
When searching for the right boat, Captain Ricardo looks for all the features needed to ensure the options offered are comfortable, safe, and the right size for your desired experience, at the most reasonable cost possible. This usually involves a few days of online research and evaluating several boats to create a short list of suitable options, along with their costs, for your group to choose from.
We generally recommend planning your trip on a catamaran, as they offer significantly more comfort than monohulls, but the final choice is always up to your group.
We typically suggest boats that include, at a minimum, air conditioning, a generator, and a watermaker, as these features substantially improve comfort and the overall experience.
Step 3 – Plan your detailed itinerary
Once the boat and dates are confirmed and the deposit is paid to secure both the vessel and the captain’s schedule, we move on to refining your itinerary. Together we clarify entertainment options, meal planning, specific places you’d like to visit, and any other add-ons or details that will make your trip truly unforgettable.
You will receive maps of the area with details for each optional stop, plus a day-by-day base plan outlining what we expect to do. Please note that weather conditions may require adjustments to the original plan, for reasons of safety or comfort. When needed, these decisions will be made during the trip.
